More than thirty years later, the Ford Sierra RS500 group A built by CMS Team Sweden in 1988 is returning to its home base. For Historic Racing Services, thatβs a nice story that comes to a magical end with the car being acquired by the Simonsen family.
Built for the 1988 season and then successfully campaigned all over the world for a decade, the car had been fully restored in 2014/2015 and had hit the track again for the first time last year in 2021.
Itβs now the third generation of the Simonsen racing dynasty that will campaign the car at selected historic meetings this season. Canβt wait to see Andreas Simonsen racing it!
Since the car is back in Sweden, it has even been reunited with legendary Swedish driver, Ulf Granberg.
In 1988, he had qualified the Sierra in P10 for the Tooheys 1000 Bathurst and he clinched a lot of good results in the 1989 Swedish Touring Car Championship.
